No Time Not to Love

Poet/Lyricist:

Deena Metzger, Joan Szymko

Squarely facing the reality that “there are those who are trying to set fire to the world,”  the opening line of text is set as an unrelenting, multi-layered chant with overarching cries of "we are in danger.”  The work transforms into an lyrical anthem as singers then proclaim steadfast resolve in an increasingly troubled world.  Additional violin and cello accompaniment is optional.  Commissioned in 2017 by Bella Voce , Reno Nevada .

No Time Not to Love

Deena Metzger, Joan Szymko

There are those who are trying to set fire to the world,
we are in danger,
there is time only to work slowly, there is no time not to love.  (Deena Metzger)

There is time only to love boldy
there is no time for fear,
no time not to love.
There are those who are trying to mend the world.  (added verse, Szymko)
